The Stratford Cricket Club was reformed for the 1977-78 season after a year in recess. Unfortunately, after a long search, we were able to find only a small amount of information about the club before this time. As a result of this, all the statistics we have available are from 1977 onwards. We also have identified a few score books missing from this period so if anyone has any information on our club, E-Mail me with anything you have.

Stratford is a small town in Victoria, Australia about 220km east of Melbourne. With a population of about 1500, it is located in East Gippsland with an economy driven by dairy and the Bass Strait oil fields. As with its namesake in England, it is also located on The Avon River and an annual Shakespear Festival is held in May each year.

The club, with the swan as its logo, reformed with two teams, B and D grade and an under 14's in 1977 in The Sale/Maffra Cricket Association. Playing on a malthoid wicket we had some good cricketers but struggled to win games. In the mid eighties a turf wicket was installed and we fielded our first A grade team. The club started to grow in the mid nineties with the club producing four senior teams and two junior sides.

The breakthrough season was in 1996-97 when our C grade team finally won The Flag and we have managed to win a premiership every year since then.

The 2000-2001 season was a stand out season when we won The Fischer Cup, our A grade team won their first premiership, D grade winning their third in a row, under 15's winning their second in a row and our two under 13's playing off in the grand final. We have managed to improve every year since our first flag in 1996-97,and it will take a huge effort just to maintain our standing from this season.

We currently field 5 teams in senior competition and 4 junior teams. Our home ground is located at The Stratford Recreation Reserve and we also play at The Pine Lodge Reserve And The Knob Reserve in our lower grades. Any one interested in playing, contact me for more information.
